Visitors will find an amazing collection of military and aviation artifacts. A Penguin training airplane from the 1920s and a 1965 UH-1 Huey helicopter are just two of the museum's exhibits. Both are part of living history units. At least 30 military uniforms are on exhibit at the museum which has over 200 in its collection. Another exhibit shares the story of the Seahorse. Augusta was one of the first towns in the nation to hold a bond drive during WWII. In one month they raised enough money to purchase this air-sea rescue boat for the U.S. Navy. The Seahorse was credited in saving more than 30 lives during the war. The museum is dedicated to the acquisition, reservation, restoration, and display of artifacts that relate the role Kansans played in military conflicts throughout history.
